Doulas offer birthing option to local moms
Two Webster City residents working on becoming certified doulas

Mothers have had more birthing options available to them in the past few years. And in small-town Iowa, another one is now available for parents who are in the process of deciding what kind of birthing experience they want.

Kelly Sprague and Brandi Martin, both of Webster City, are working on becoming certified doulas.

According to the doula association Dona International, a doula is a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period. ...
